Sweepstakes casinos have taken the industry by storm, but they don’t stop where they are now. Experts say that the number of new brands will double in the next two years. This is insight from Nadiya Attard, CCO of Elantil, who shared his opinion at the NEXT Social Casino Summit in New York.

Attard believes that enormous competition, especially from European contenders , will further boost the growth. It is estimated that the number of active sweepstakes casino brands is between 50 – 60 casinos, with some additional companies operating in the sports betting niche. Based on Attard’s beliefs “regulation will be inevitable” and more elements will be implemented into social gaming experience with the overall expansion of the industry.

How the Sweeps Industry Turns Around

Another industry expert who took part in NEXT Summit, Jason Rosenberg, CEO of American iGaming Solutions, shared his vision on the sweepstakes future. He noticed that attitudes change and now more providers express their willingness to work with social casinos.

He also mentioned that tribal gaming operators will start investing in the sweepstakes industry, and first conversations are already in progress.

Regulatory Challenges

CEO and co-founder of Clubs Poker, Jon Kaplowitz, has also taken the opportunity to express his opinion on the current situation. He emphasises the significance of educating US legislators on the specific elements of the whole industry to prevent potential regulatory struggles.

It is especially important in the current climate across the US states where several of them have taken steps to ban the sweepstakes operators. The main reasons for that are “allegedly” tax losses and consumer protection. Kaplowitz believes that the next 12 months will be essential for social casinos.

He further stresses the need for education of lawmakers and having legal clarity across the country. Some of potential steps in that direction could be strengthening Know Your Customer procedure and Anti-Money Laundering safeguards. Along with education, innovation is much needed in the industry.

This is because sweepstakes casinos started to mimic the real casino experiences without having their unique features. Working on special mechanics and becoming different from what we currently have will be an essential move toward the future.
