Wyoming did the one thing that has the potential to make a player flinch: it put out an official warning. In May 2025, the Wyoming Gaming Commission (WGC) reminded everyone that sweepstakes sites aren’t licensed by the state. Read that cold, and it sounds like trouble, but it carried no penalties, no ban, and no bill behind it, so the major brands never blinked, and you can still play.

The only sweepstakes casinos that ended up leaving the state were a handful of companies that happened to be incorporated in Wyoming who would rather not be the local example operating in their own backyard. Essentially, this is pure paperwork caution, not the state turning on you.

Legal overview

Are sweepstakes casinos illegal in Wyoming?	No. No state law bans them.
Has the state said anything about them at all?	Yes, a warning. The WGC issued a consumer notice on the 22nd of May, 2025, saying sweepstakes sites aren’t licensed, and that the WGC can’t help players resolve disputes with them.
Did that warning create any penalties?	No. It was a general consumer notice, not a ban or an enforcement action. No finesse, no cease-and-desist letters.
Did operators leave because of it?	Only a few. Most major brands kept Wyoming open.
Is Wyoming working on an actual ban?	In draft. The Wyoming Gambling Task Force is preparing a bill to prohibit iGaming and “similar online activities.” Nothing filed yet; the 2027 session is the likely target.

Can I sign up to a sweepstakes site from Wyoming?	Yes. Most major brands accept players from Wyoming.
